Ouch!

Hello Friends. I have a card to share with you today from Doodle Pantry. My dear Mommy is having surgery in a couple of weeks, and I am going to be staying with her for a week to help her through it. I am using the Cuddly Bear set for this card, along with a couple of cut files from Silhouette.

I printed the Cuddly Bear image on designer paper from KI Memories and also on white card stock. I hand cut the pillow out to paper piece it behind the bear. I colored the image with Copic markers (bear - E11, E15, E17, E19; sheet - YG93, YG95; gems on flowers YR65; distressing on flowers YG95; distressing on vase - B66). The rest of the card are cut files from Silhouette's online store. Ouch Title - Design #75594. cut with white, blue and salmon card stock; Vase of Flowers - Design #16693, cut with blue and olive card stock; Shelf - Design #1248, cut with black card stock. The focal image was layered onto blue card stock and then a white card stock base. I added gems onto the flowers - goosebumps from Queen & Co. and crystals from Studio G Gems. All three gems were clear and colored with YG95 Copic marker. Here is what you get in this set:

Spring

We have another new Tuesday Color Challenge starting today over at The Outlawz. Ina picked the photo inspiration this week and it's so cute. She also happened to be the one who chose the image we all used too. It was absolutely perfect for this challenge. Use this image as your inspiration and tell us what inspired you.

Our wonderful Sponsor for the month of March is Sweet Pea Stamps. They have a lot of awesome stamps to choose from, both rubber and digital, from many different artists.

Here is the project that I made for the challenge. I am using Karen Middleton's Easter Daffodil for this shadowbox card. Isn't that image adorable?

This is a cut file called Butterfly Shadowbox (Design #74676) from Silhouette's online store. The second I saw it, I knew I had to use it with this awesome digital stamp we got from Sweet Pea Stamps. This is a four layer shadowbox that folds flat for mailing. There are six panels that need to be cut. I used Bazzill textured card stock for five of the layers, and designer paper from KI Memories for the background layer. It's hard to see, but it has blue and light purple mixed with white to give it a look of the sky. The butterflies come with this cut file and I used designer paper from DCWV to cut these out. The grass border is another cut file (Design #56521) from Silhouette. The sentiment is part of a cut file called Spring Has Sprung (Design #58461). I brought the chick and daffodil image into my Silhouette software and traced it. Then did a print and cut twice (I noticed that when I used two cut files glued together, it's a lot more durable). I colored the image using Copic markers (chick and daffodil - Y02, Y06, Y08; beak and feet -Y35, Y38; ladybug - R27; stems - G03, G07). All that was left to do was assemble it. There is a video link when you buy the image to see how it is assembled. Unfortunately, it was cut off at the end and instead of redoing the video, she left instructions. I added some different colored crystals onto the butterflies and the top layer to mimic the rainbow from the inspiration photo.

I really hope you get a chance to join us in this challenge this week.

On Your Birthday...

Here we go ... our newest Tuesday Color Challenge at The Outlawz! Ursula chose our inspiration photo and colors this week. And, a wonderful twist ... make it a birthday! There are five colors on the inspiration photo, but you only need to use three! I really hope you will come and play along with us this week.

Our wonderful Sponsor for the month of March is Sweet Pea Stamps. They have a lot of awesome stamps to choose from, both rubber and digital, from many different artists.

Here is the card I made for the challenge. I am using Karen Middleton's Biker Boy digi for this card. What an incredibly fun image to color.

This card started with the cut file. I used the Balloon Confetti Card (Design #58940) from Silhouette's Online Store. I cut the design using textured card stock from Bazzill. I usually hoard my Bazzill card stock, but thought it would be perfect for this card. To create my background, I took a piece of white card stock and used four colors of Stampin' Up! ink (daffodil delight, riding hood red, marina mist, wild wasabi) and finger daubers to lay ink over the entire page. I glued this page behind the balloons. I brought the biker boy image in my Silhouette software and did a trace on the outside of the image. Because my cut file had all the confetti, I removed the confetti from the image and just used the boy. I did a print and cut twice. I colored one of the images with Copic markers (hat - R21, R24, R27; hair - Y11, Y13, Y15; shirt - YG61, YG63, YG67; jeans - B12, B14, B16; skin - R000, R01; shoes - Y26, Y28; tires - C4, C5; flag - C9 colored in criss-cross pattern; bike - Sakura clear star gelly roll). The second image was glued underneath the colored image to give it a little more thickness and stability. I used foam tape to pop it up on the page. The sentiment is from the On Your Birthday stamp set from Stampin' Up! and layered on riding hood red card stock.

Dancing in the Rain

Hello Everyone! I am so honored to be a Guest Designer this week for Inky Impressions. This is Challenge #200 and the theme for the challenge this week is special lady (mother's day, girlie birthday, etc.).

I am using Umbrella Lili and the Dancing in the Rain sentiment for my card. I printed the focal image on white card stock and colored it using Copic markers (hair- Y15, Y19; umbrella, slicker and wellies - RV25, RV55 {used the tip-to-tip technique to get middle color and blend}; umbrella handle - Y28; skin - R000, R01; lips - R21; jeans, hairband and eyes - B41, B45). After coloring, I added Ranger's Glossy Accents to the umbrella, slicker and wellies to make them shine as if they were rubber. I also used it on the little puddle at the bottom. I used Spellbinder's Labels Ten die to cut the image out. While the die was still attached to the card stock, I used soft sky and bashful blue inks to distress it, leaving a white frame around it. I layered this on a light blue card stock that was also distressed with bashful blue ink. I really liked the way the distressing came out on the colored card stock. This was then layered onto a white card stock base. I pulled the sentiment into my Silhouette software and used a cut file called 5 Clouds (design #11654) to cut a cloud around it. The cloud was distressed with bashful blue ink and then popped up with foam dots. Finally, I added some epoxy raindrops from Creative Imagination to finish off the card. I have had these epoxy stickers for a very long time, so it's awesome to finally use them.

I really hope you will join the challenge this week! I am entering this card into he following challenges:

Erin Go Bragh!

It's Tuesday, that means another challenge at The Outlawz. This week, our Tuesday Color Challenge is a little different. We are using a flag for our colors...and if you haven't already guessed it, yes, it's the Irish flag. It is March afterall, and St. Patrick's Day is next week...so time to whip out those green, orange and white cards! Here is our inspiration photo and colors:

Our sponsor for the month of March is Sweet Pea Stamps. They sell both digital and rubber stamps, with a wide assortment to choose from. Please go check them out.

Here is the card I made using Norma J. Burnell's Cat's Cradle image.

This card is on a white card base, with a layer of green glitter paper and a layer of orange glitter paper from DCWV's glitter stack. I printed the image on white card stock and colored it using Copic markers. There are seven different greens on this image (dress, hat, wings - G00, G02, G03, G05, G07, G09, G29; cat - YR00, YR12, YR14, YR18; jewels YR18; skin - R0000, R01; lips and eyeshadow - YR12, YR14, YR18). I colored the jewels in the image YR18, but then covered them up with orange crystal gems in two sizes. The image was cut using Spellbinder's Resplendent Rectangles and popped up onto the orange glitter paper with foam dots. Using my Silhouette, I typed Erin Go Bragh with Some Weatz Swashes font and used the clover cut file from Doodle Pantry's Four Leaf Clover .svg set to cut it out. I used pumpkin pie ink and a Sakura gel pen (orange xpgb#705) to distress it. What you also can't see in this photo, is the shimmer all over her using another Sakura gel pen (green xpgb#727). I am including another photo below of a close-up. Last, I added green crystal gems in three of the corners. Here is a close-up view.

I really hope you get a chance to come join our challenge this week. It would be so wonderful to see what you have created using these colors.

Born to Ride

Hello friends...I have another fabulous digital set to show you from Doodle Pantry today! This is one of my favorite masculine sets called Motorcycle Mania!

This card was made for my big brother Don! He loves motorcycles and even owns one. He was supposed to take me out riding last time I visited, but we ran out of time. So, I made this card for his birthday to remind him for next time...lol. The pre-colored image and the designer paper are both from the Motorcycle Mania set. The sentiment is actually a cut file from Silhouette's online store (born to ride #18678), but instead of cutting it, I turned it into a digital image and printed it. If you bring a cut file into the software, you can remove the cut lines and turn it into a print instead. I also added a gradient color and printed it, along with the pre-colored image, on white card stock. The center of the frame was used to cut the image to fit inside the frame without hanging over. In addition to the designer paper, I printed the solid color orange from the same set. This was then used to cut the top layer of the tribal flame frame (design #3425). I wanted to make sure the oranges matched perfectly. The back portion of the frame was cut using black card stock. Using foam dots, I raised the frame up on the designer paper. I added 5 metal dots on both sides to finish the card.

Of course, after the card was in the mail, I thought of using the helmet that is part of the set as an embellishment, so that's just a little idea for you if you want. I would have added glossy accents to make the helmet shine too. Here is what you get with the set.

Here is the card I made using Lisa Victoria's Dragon Luck image. Isn't this adorable? I just love that little lady bug landing on his nose.

For the background, I used white card stock and five inks from Stampin' Up! (from top - rich razzleberry, orchid opulance, melon mambo, daffodil delight, and green galore). I printed the dragon image onto white card stock and colored him using both Copic and Spectrum Noir markers (dragon - CG3, YG06; eyes - PL3; ladybug - R21, R24, R27; flower - RV23, RV25, YG07). The frame is a cut file from Silhouette of America (Flourish Frame Design #3389). It was cut using purple card stock from Recollections (there is no color listed). The sentiment was typed on my computer using Comic Sans font. I used a label punch from Stampin' Up! and then used daffodil delight ink to distress it.  I added lime green goosebump crystals in the corners to finish it off.

I really hope you get a chance to play along with us this week. These are some really awesome colors to work with.

It's a Beautiful Life

It's always a happy day for me when I get to share Doodle Pantry images with you. I made this card  for the Wednesday Sketch Challenge at The Outlawz. I loved this sketch, and had to make a card so I could join in the fun!

I am using the beautifully recolored set called Morning Glory. The image, sentiment and designer paper are all from this set. I printed the designer paper on white card stock and layered it onto navy card stock and then a white card stock base. I printed the precolored image onto white card stock and layered it with navy. I did two squares of blank white card stock layered on navy and then used foam tape to pop it up in the center. I added two silver flowers in the corner and colored the centers with Copic marker B28. Finally, I added three green crystals onto the focal image at the top and bottom corners. Take a look at the beautiful colors Laurie made for you in this set. They are very pretty.

While Laurie takes a break from creating new images, the design team will be focusing on showing you lots of existing sets and giving you ideas on what you can do with them. There are so many digital sets at the Doodle Pantry store, you are sure to find something to fit your style or needs at any time and for any occasion.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog.

Bahama Woodstar

The Mod Squad Challenge Blog has a new challenge starting today. I am your Host for this challenge and I hope you'll come and play along with us. The challenge is called Spring Forward. I know the whole country is buried in snow and freezing temperatures, so let's look forward to Spring and show us what you think Spring is all about. This challenge is open to interpretation...I'd like to see butterflies, hummingbirds, lots and lots of flowers and wonderful, bright colors. Whatever you want to make.

Our sponsor this week is Sparkle N Sprinkle. The prize is any digital image or set up to $15. Be sure to check out their Made In USA rubber stamps and glitter too!

http://sparklensprinkle.com/o/

If you use a Sparkle N Sprinkle image, you get 2 entries. Just add MSC in front of your link name.

I am using Sparkle N Sprinkle's Bahama Woodstar digital stamp for my card.  I love this hummingbird. I printed the image on white card stock and colored it using Copic markers (bird - E23, V15, V17, BG11, BG45 - I used the kiss technique to blend the blues and purples together; leaves - YG11, YG13; flowers - Y15, Y19, YR04, YR09, RV23, RV25). The image when then mounted onto melon mamba card stock and then another piece of white card stock. I then used foam tape to adhere this piece to my background, which I made. This is called the bokeh technique. Most people are familiar with it being used in photography, but it's become hugely popular in the stamping world.

To create the background, I used melon mamba, tangerine tango and daffodil delight inks from Stampin' Up! and a finger sponge dauber. I didn't pay too much attention to where the colors were going, but just wanted to get all three colors down onto the white card stock. I will tell you, I did not like this background until AFTER I did the bokeh technique. I created my own stencil using my Silhouette Cameo. I had 3 different sizes of circles, some going off the page and then cut this out using clear transparency paper. It worked out great. Then, using another finger sponge dauber, I took white pigment ink from Stampin' Up! and dabbed into the circles. Do not swirl your dauber because it will pink up the dye ink and turn your sponse and your ink pink and other colors. Once I had the circles filled to the way I wanted them, I used my heat gun to dry that layer. For the final layer, I was going to use the dauber filled with white pigment ink and place them randomly, but I was not getting nice, crisp circles. So, I took my stencil and used the smallest circles and dabbed really concentrated amounts of ink on top. I was so happy with the way it came out looking, even though I didn't like the background originally. I placed this background onto white card stock and then onto a melon mamba card stock base. Finally, I added a couple of pink crystals onto the focal image and a very small black crystal for the hummingbird's eye.

I hope you will join us at The Mod Squad Challenge Blog and show us your interpretation of Spring!!

There's Only One You!

There's a new Color Challenge starting today at The Outlawz. The DT made some really cute cards this week for you, and I hope you'll stop by and play along with us. It was my first time posting for the challenge and I was a bit nervous, but it came out pretty good.

Our sponsor for the month of February is The Paper Nest. Please check out their website. They have lots of rubber stamps, as well as digital stamps to choose from.

Our challenge this week is TIC TAC TOE. Everyone loves to play this game, so let's see what you can do with these colors on your project.

We would like you to pick a row...it can be vertical, horizontal or diagonal. If your chosen row has a box with a word in it, you must include that item (twist) into your project, for example if you picked the first vertical row you would use pink, blue and purple and your twist would be gemstones! You have lots of color combinations to choose from and we hope you like this challenge as much as we do!

I chose the middle vertical row and used Yellow, White and Black. Believe it or not, that butterfly is actually a cut file from Silhouette. Using my Cameo, I turned the fill color and the line color to black and turned off the cut lines. I then traced the butterfly and did an outer trace to get just the outline cut. Then I did a print and cut on white card stock. I did made two butterflies. I used Spectrum Noir markers (CT1, CT3, GB5) to color both butterflies. I glued one butterfly on top of the other and then used glitter spray on the top for a little texture to make it sparkle and shine. For the fancy fold, I followed the tutorial by Beate Johns on SCS found here. All of the paper I used, including the designer paper, is from Stampin' Up!. I used a square of white card stock inside the fold and then placed both butterflies on inside. This was layered on top of black card stock and layered onto another piece of white card stock (with the sentiment from Stampin' Up! stamped directly on it) and then onto a black card stock base.

Perfect Friends

Hello crafters...here is my card for this week's Color Challenge over at The Outlawz. I am late posting this, but you still have a couple of days left to join us. Our sponsor this month is The Paper Nest. Check out their website. They have rubber stamps, as well as digital stamps to choose from. This week, our challenge is to use sky blue (or any blue close to that) and two other colors of your choice. You also tell us what your twist is. I love this type of challenge. Here is my card. My colors are blue, green, yellow, orange and pink and my twist is to add a button.

This card was made for my very good friend Cathy. Her favorite flowers are daisies and I thought this was perfect for her. I used a card cut file from Silhouette's online store. In addition to the card cut file, it also has a two-piece extra daisy, so I cut that that as well. I used white card stock for the card, and for the bottom layer of the extra daisy, and blue card stock for the top layer of the daisy. Beneath the card cut file, I used a piece of rainblow vellum. The sentiment is from Stampin' Up! and I layered that on blue card stock and adhered it using foam tape. Using a MS butterfly punch, I punched that from the same vellum and glued that below the sentiment. I added a big white button with white thread onto the daisy and added blue crystal gems on the other flowers and also onto the layered sentiment.

Please come join us for our challenge this week. We would love to see what you create!

Irish Birdie

It's the third Tuesday of the month, and that means Doodle Pantry is having another release day...with .svg cut files in addition to a few new digi sets.

I am using a brand new .svg cut file set called Four Leaf Clover SVG and an older digital set called Irish Birdie. I chose to do the four leaf clover frame. There are 4 layers to this frame and I attached them all to a white card stock base. I pulled the birdie into my Silhouette and traced, print and cut the pre-colored image. I cut all 4 layers using black, lime green and a darker green card stock. (See the post below this one to find out what I did with all the middles from the frame.) The sentiment is from the Irish Birdie set and was printed on white card stock and layered onto black card stock and popped-up in the corner. I added 2 different sizes of green gemstones into the hearts of the clover. This was a super fun and quick card to make and Laurie's .svg cut files cut like a dream. Here is what you get in the sets.

Don't forget...there is still time to join us on the Doodle Pantry Blog for this month's Ants in my Pantry Digital Challenge 2 for your chance to win a gift certificate to the Doodle Pantry store. The theme this month is CANDY. It is a digital challenge, but we also accept hand-stamped images as well. So come have some FUN!

One of the new sets being released this week is called Funky Sock Monkey. Laurie has added this set to her OWH category. That means that $1.00 from each sale will be donated to Operation Write Home. Here is a link to see the other sets she has included in the OWH category. Here is what you will get in that set.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

This is the second post of the day. I wanted to show the versatility of these wonderful digital sets and svg sets that you can get at Doodle Pantry.

Using the same two sets Irish Birdie and Four Leaf Clover SVG sets, I created this card. All of the cuts for the four leaf clover are actually the insides of the frame that was used in the first card. I took the smallest inset in my Silhouette and did an internal offset. That is how I got the last piece, which is the white leaf with the image on it. I brought the pre-colored image from Irish Birdie into my Silhouette and put it inside the leaf and did a print and cut. There is a set of loose four leaf clovers in the set and I cut 4 large and 8 small clovers using the darker green card stock. I put 3 in each corner and then added 2 different sizes of green crystals. The clover was layered onto white card stock and then onto a black card stock base. So, just using the remnants of the first card, I was able to very quickly make another card. How fabulous is that? Here is what you get in the sets.

Barrel Full of Monkeys

Here is another adorable set released this month at Doodle Pantry. I think this is my first pop-up card. This card was so much fun to make...seriously!

I am using the newly released set called Monkey Barrel. For the front, I pulled the pre-colored monkey into my Silhouette, traced it, and did a print and cut. It's popped up slightly using thin foam tape. The sentiment is not from the set, I created it myself and printed it on a light yellow card stock. I distressed it with early espressor and chocolate chip inks. The bananas are from the Lil Gorilla Jungle set. I pulled the pre-colored banana into my Silhouette, traced it, and did a print and cut. I then used Copic marker G85 to color the stem and the tip of each one. There are 3 individual bananas stacked on top of each other. I then added candy dots from Stampin' Up! to finish the front. For the inside, I used a pop-up cut file from Silhouette's online store (Design #66546) and cut it using yellow card stock. I printed the designer paper from the set onto white card stock and then used that to cut the insides of the cut file. I also added dark brown card stock for the pop-up features. I did a trace, print and cut on the barrel full of monkeys, 2 more single monkeys and the bananas. The large banana with the rest of the sentiment I created using a banana image from the internet. I printed it on yellow card stock and hand cut it out. Here is what you get in the set. Laurie added a ton of adorable sentiments for this set.
